Color Club - Over the Moon Halo Hues Collection!!

Wowzers! I certainly don't have anything like this in my collection - this polish literally comes to life on my finger tips.

This gorgeous bright blue has a very strong linear holo effect in the sun. In the shade it becomes a more muted silver denim blue. I used a regular base coat and two thin coats and no top coat. The application was simple - no hassles with pulling or streaking and extremely quick drying.

In the sun . . .

A England Tristam with Cheeky stamping

Today's polish is from the gorgeous A England Mythicals collection and is the beautiful Tristam. This reminds me of dark navy denim and has a scattered holographic effect. Unfortunately the sun would not cooperate to show how lovely it looks outside. Nevertheless it's still a gorgeous colour and the application is a dream. This is almost a one coater but I applied two for evenness.

I recently purchased the Cheeky stamping plates and this is CH7 - so nice to have such a variety of plates to select from!

Base colour: A England Tristam
Nail plate: CH7
Stamp colour: China Glaze SciFi

China Glaze First Mate with stamping

Todays manicure is China Glaze's First Mate which is a dusty royal blue creme. First Mate applies beautifully and is almost a one coater. I love these ultra pigmented polishes! This is an unusual blue that goes well with jeans in my opinion.

Base colour: China Glaze First Mate
Nail plate: Konad M61
Stamp colour: China Glaze 2030
Topped with Essie Good to Go

And just 'cos I wanted to see how it would look matte . . . topped with Essie Matte About You. Interesting how it totally changed the colour of the blue.

Nfu Oh 56 - Oh how green you are!

Ohhh what a beauty this polish is. I love green on a good day so this is just amazing all round! This is layered over Cult Nails Living Water. Nfu Oh 56 is the most gorgeous green and blue flakies in a green gel. I love the way that in different lights it looks definitely green then changes to peacock blue - amazing! It dries quickly and the pictures show it topped with Essie Good to Go and then with Essie Matte About You. I like it Matte - how about you?

Cult Nails - Living Water

Today's polish is the gorgeous Cult Nails Living Water. Living water has a blue/black jelly like base with loads of blue and green glitter. It applies beautifully and is opaque in 2 coats. I really like the brush for this polish which is soft and longish and has great control.

I was somewhat surprised to test a random polish in my collection (I have no idea how I got it!) and it was remarkably similar to Living Water. That is NYX Robotic. While the polishes look quite different in the bottles they apply almost identically. NYX Robotic has a slightly finer glitter and dries a wee bit smoother. It also tends more towards blue micro glitter while you can definitely see green glitter in Living Water . . . interesting food for thought though =)

The Amazing Zoya Charla!

I haven't had a lot of experience with Zoya polishes as they aren't widely available in NZ and this lovely is from a haul from NaildeRoyale.com.

Wow - I just can't believe how striking this polish is, I just can't stop looking at it. While it's probably been reviewed and swatched to death - it's new to me! It's very difficult to accurately capture Charla's true colour but these photos are a pretty good likeness I think. In some lights this polish looks more blue that green.

I love this blue/green emerald sparkliness with a hint of gold. The formula goes on smoothly for glitter and is opaque in two coats and I was impressed by how quickly it dries, having read on some other blogs that Zoya polishes can tend to take a bit longer to dry. I'll happily put up with that to be able to feel confident that the polish I'm using is 3 free (plus camphor).

Onto the piccies  . . .

Probably the best colour representation

Testing my Green/Blue Polishes

Having just bought some gorgeous green and bold blue polishes it's time to put them to the test! Interestingly I have never owned either a green or a blue polish before - I've always stuck to the traditional reds/pinks/taupes and browns. I think I am a convert though . . .

This is a selection of my green polishes:

L-R: (all China Glaze) Gussied Up Green, Outta Bounds, Paper Chasing, Cha Cha Cha

This is China Glaze's Gussied Up Green. Love how even though it's very dark the green shimmer looks amazing.

And while I was at it I decided to see how it looks with various stamping polishes.

L-R: China Glaze Awaken, Konad Special Gold, China Glaze Robotika, China Glaze Millennium and Thumb is China Glaze Hi-Tek

And now time for the blues:

L-R: China Glaze Blue Island Iced Tea, China Glaze Rodeo Fanatic, OPI Ski Teal We Drop, OPI Midnight Blue Glitter, and Thumb is China Glaze Blue Iguana

So I've decided that Blue Island Iced Tea really isn't for me and while it's a terrible angle for Midnight Blue Glitter I don't see me wearing that either. The other three colours I'm really taken with, especially Ski Teal We Drop and I can't help but love the vibrancy of Rodeo Fanatic.
